Khabib Nurmagomedov admits he was nervous after UFC 311 announcements: 'I hope I survive'

As much as he has built one of the most solid careers in the history of the UFC's most populous division, his psychology Khabib Nurmagomedov seems to be more affected after retirement. Coach and cornerman for several Dagestani athletes, the Russian reacted with anxiety after the announcement of the main fights of the UFC 311, first pay per view of 2025.

“Two title fights at the same time! I don’t think this has ever happened before, or hasn’t happened until now… What a night awaits me, I hope I survive,” said the ‘Eagle’ in a post on Instagram.

The event takes place in California on January 18th. In the main fight, Islam Makhachev defends title of the lightweights (up to 70,3 kg.) in a rematch with Arman Tsarukyan. Already in the previous fight, Umar Nurmagomedov, Khabib's cousin, has the chance to become bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) when he faces Merab Dvalishvili in the Georgian's first title defense.

The announcement was made on the evening of last Wednesday (4), in a video published on Ultimate's social media, by the organization's CEO, Dana White. This is not the first time that it has been possible to notice the former fighter's nervousness about working as a cornerman for his friends. In September of this year, his reactions during the fight between Usman Nurmagomedov and Alexandr Shabliy, at Bellator, went viral on social media.
