The last week was marked by a new controversy involving Jamahal hill, who, after seeing Alex Poatán being crowned Fighter of the Year at the 'MMA Awards', did not hold back criticism. The American, who has been in a rivalry with the Brazilian since his defeat in UFC 300, showed dissatisfaction with the award and pointed out his favorite for the prize.

In an interview with Helen Yee Sports, Hill expressed frustration with Poatan's choice. The former champion stated that, for him, the real Fighter of the Year should be the Georgian. Ilia Topuria, featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) and who dethroned names like Alexander Volkanovsky e Max Holloway.

“For me, Fighter of the Year is Ilia Topuria. It was tight between Alex and him. Alex had good results, fought in big events and had great performances. But, for me, (the fighter of the year) was Ilia Topuria for the fights that left me 'Oh, man' and for what he was able to do against Alex Volkanovski and Max Holloway”, said the former champion.

The statement did not go unnoticed, especially considering the intense rivalry between Jamahal hill e Alex Poatán, fueled since the confrontation between the two in UFC 300, when the Brazilian knocked out his opponent in spectacular fashion in the first round.
