Despite its commercial success, the boxing match between Mike Tyson e Jake Paul generated several controversies and criticisms, mainly motivated by the significant age difference between the two competitors. However, this is not the opinion shared by Lennox Lewis, former world boxing champion and Iron Mike's old rival.

In an interview with British newspaper The Mirror, the former boxer said he did not see the duel broadcast live on Netflix as damaging to the image of professional boxing, but rather as a way to introduce different generations to the two involved in the main fight.
“It was an event for Tyson’s fans to actually see him back in the ring, and the YouTuber’s fans to see him in the ring with Tyson. At the end of the day, it was a great event that a lot of people were happy to be a part of and felt good about,” he said.
Lewis also highlighted the differences between the event and a highly competitive fight, such as the heavyweight title rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.
“The real event is the world heavyweight title fight, where the two best fighters in the world actually meet and we can really see who is the best of the two and who is the king of heavyweight boxing at the moment. That kind of boxing doesn’t tarnish great boxing like Usyk and Fury because you have two different types of eras and things going on. You have entertainment and you have fighting,” he concluded.
Lennox Lewis
Lennox Lewis is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweights in boxing history. Born in Canada but naturalized British, Lewis distinguished himself in the sport through his combination of strength, technical skill and strategic intelligence in the ring. He held the world title on three separate occasions. Over the course of his career, he defeated greats such as Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko and himself. Mike Tyson, with whom he had a great rivalry.
