Before rematch, Mackenzie Dern downplays defeat in first fight with Amanda Ribas: 'Another person'

About to face Amanda ribas for the second time in his career in the main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 101, this Saturday (11), Mackenzie dern does not believe that the defeat suffered in the first meeting with the rival, more than five years ago, will have any effect on the rematch.

In a press conference held during the event's 'media day', last Wednesday (8), Mackenzie downplayed the result of the 2019 duel and said he believed in his evolution to come out with a positive result in the UFC Las Vegas 101.

“I feel like I was a very different person back then. It doesn’t even feel like I was me. I feel like a completely different person. Plus, it was three rounds. I think we’re in completely different phases of our careers. I’ve evolved in my striking, my wrestling, my takedowns, and I’m much more experienced,” said the Brazilian.

Another point highlighted by Mackenzie dern was the fact of having faced Amanda ribas just four months after giving birth to her daughter Moa.

“I think what happened made me who I am today, so I can’t say I completely regret it. But I think if I could go back, I would wait a little longer,” said the fighter.
