One of the biggest names in world MMA, Patrick Pitbull has been released from the PFL and is now officially a free agent. After weeks of tension, in which the 37-year-old veteran made his discontent with the organization public, the Brazilian has been granted the release to sign with another company. The announcement was made by PFL founder Donn Davis on social media.

“We are releasing Patricio pitbull. The PFL has always been about creating new opportunities, and our mission is to continue to provide that for all the great fighters who want to be here,” Davis wrote.

The release marks the end of a cycle for Pitbull in the PFL, which, until then, had been one of his main homes after a long reign in Bellator — which had its end announced last Monday (13). The decision comes after a period in which the Brazilian publicly questioned the lack of opportunities and support from the organization, in addition to formally requesting his release.

Now, with his contract terminated, he is free to negotiate with other organizations, including the UFC and GFL, a new company that has signed other renowned athletes.
