Alex Poatan opens as underdog in betting for fight with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313

Even though he holds the belt, the Brazilian is not the favorite against the Russian; the fight takes place on March 8

Alex Poatán is about to return to the octagon to defend his title for the fourth time. The Brazilian faces Magomed Ankalayev No. UFC 313, an event scheduled for March 8th, at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas (USA). Despite being the belt holder, the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.) enters with the status of underdog in the betting.

The specialist website 'Best Fight Odds' revealed that the initial odds for the fight place Poatan at odds of 2,30, which means that a victory for the Brazilian would generate a return of 230 dollars for every 100 bet.

Ankalaev is priced at 1,65, making him the favorite among bookmakers to win the belt for the first time in his UFC career.

The confirmation of the fight was announced during official broadcast do UFC 311, after much speculation about the date and Poatan's opponent. The Brazilian is looking to maintain his unbeaten record since moving to the light heavyweight division.

On the other hand, Ankalaev, who arrived at the UFC in 2018, will have his big chance to win the belt. With an enviable record of 11 wins and one draw since his debut defeat, the 31-year-old Russian has shown himself to be one of the most feared figures in the division.
