The rivalry between Alex Poatán e Magomed Ankalayev took on new contours this Wednesday (22). In an interview with MMA Junkie, the Brazilian reacted to the provocations made by the Russian, who recently made comments about his past, including his struggles with alcoholism. The UFC light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) made it clear that, despite the provocations, he is focused on what really matters: his preparation for the fight and keeping his belt.
Poatan, who is in Las Vegas accompanying his sister, Aline Pereira, who will compete in Karate Combat, appeared calm when referring to Ankalaev's statements, who compared the situation to the fight against Khalil rountree, in which the American, despite being well-rated, was knocked out by the Brazilian.

“He is a complete guy, who has been showing his work. I am the champion, I saw him as a challenger saying some things. I am doing my own thing, quiet, dedicating myself to training. I am learning a lot, happy with the evolution and waiting for the big day”, declared Poatan.
The fight between Poatan and Ankalaev is scheduled for March 8th, as the main attraction of the UFC 313, in Las Vegas. The fight promises to be one of the most anticipated of the year, with Poatan seeking his fourth successful belt defense in the category. On the other hand, Ankalaev, currently number 1 in the ranking, arrives on the back of an unbeaten streak that has lasted 13 fights.
