Renato Moicano reveals he would do the main fight if UFC Brasília was confirmed

Dana White confirmed in December of last year that the UFC will hold a event in Brazil in 2025. Initially, Brasília was going to host the Ultimate edition on May 31, but the North American organization changed its planning and is now studying a new Brazilian city to host an event on the same date.

Amidst so many uncertainties, Renato Moicano published a video on his YouTube channel revealing that, shortly after being cast as last hora and lost the lightweight belt dispute (up to 70,3 kg) to Islam makhachev No. UFC 311, asked to fight on the card in Brasilia. Moicano, who is from Brasília, then asked if he would be the main fight on the card and received a 'yes' as an answer.

“It was something that happened after my fight against (Islam) Makhachev. I went out to talk to the UFC guys and Hunter (Campbell), who is the vice president, thanked me for taking the fight a day early, a very difficult fight, and said: 'We wanted to know when you want to come back again, what would be a date and we'll put you in the fight'. I answered him right away, at that moment I knew that there were negotiations for the fight. UFC Brasilia and I said, 'Hunter, I want to fight in the UFC Brasilia. Then he said: 'Moicano, I don't know if the event will happen, it's not certain yet, we don't have full confirmation that the event will happen. But, if the event happens, for sure.' Then I asked: 'Hunter, will it be the main fight?' Then he said: 'I don't see why not.' He had given every indication that, if the event happened, I would be in the main event, especially because I'm from Brasília. But I ended up waking up to this news that the UFC will no longer be in Brasília and, worse, that they are negotiating for the second half of the year and nothing yet. This is clearly due to the economy. The dollar is very expensive", revealed Moicano.

The last Ultimate event in Brazil was UFC 301, in Rio de Janeiro, in May of last year. In the main fight, the flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg.) Alexandre pantoja derrotou Steve Erceg by unanimous decision. The card of UFC 301 also featured José Aldo, Victor Petrino, Michael Pereira e Caio Borralho.
