Former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), Sean Strickland was harshly criticized by fans for his performance in defeat to Dricus du Plessis in rematch for the category belt, in the main fight of the UFC 312, last Saturday (8), in Sydney, Australia. Despite the performance below criticism and the defeat in the unanimous decision, the American managed to make history during the duel.
In the third round of the fight, Sean Strickland surpassed the mark of 1.384 significant strikes connected in his career as a middleweight (up to 83,9 kg), which marked the historical record of the category and belonged to the British and also former champion Michael Bisping. At the end of the five rounds, the American set a new record with 1.465 significant strikes as an athlete in the division.
