The defeat suffered against Gabriel Mosquitinho at the end of the preliminary card of the UFC 312, last Saturday (12), caused more serious problems than it might seem at first glance for Jack Jenkins. The Australian featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) spent last Sunday (9) hospitalized in an Intensive Care Unit in Sydney due to an injury suffered during the fight against the Brazilian. The information was initially released by the page 'Australian MMA'.
According to information from 'MMA Fighting', Jenkins was reportedly taken to the hospital after the fight for post-fight exams, but was soon released. However, the fighter was called back to the hospital after the medical team reanalyzed his exams and found a fractured thyroid cartilage, an injury that can be caused by blunt trauma such as a punch or strangulation and compromises the airway. The Australian spent the weekend hospitalized under medical supervision in the ICU, from where he was discharged on Monday (10).

According to Jenkins' team, the injury probably occurred at the end of the first round, when the fighter began to complain of blurred vision and loss of strength in his left arm. The Brazilian's victory was secured in the third round, with a rear naked choke.
Jack Jenkins has not yet commented on social media about what happened. With the defeat to Mosquitinho in UFC 312, the Australian now has three wins and two losses in the Ultimate octagon.
