Joe Rogan already has a plan in place for what he wants to see in the UFC featherweight division (up to 65,7 lbs.). With rumors swirling about Ilia Topuria moving up to lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) or negotiating a rematch with Alexander Volkanovsky, the UFC commentator gave his opinion and even inserted Diego lopes in this equation.

During the JRE Fight Companion podcast episode on UFC 312, Rogan commented that Topuria should immediately move up to lightweight and challenge Islam makhachev, regardless of having defended the featherweight belt only once. Although he recognizes that it would be interesting to see him face other contenders in the division, he does not think it is necessary and prefers that the superfight happen as soon as possible.
“As crazy as it sounds, I hope Ilia moves up to 70 pounds. I don’t care if he defends the title once or not at all. It would be cool to see him fight some of the other featherweight contenders, but then again, who cares? Let’s do it,” said Joe Rogan.
Rogan suggests Volkanovski vs. Diego Lopes for featherweight title
To fill the gap in the featherweight division, should Topuria make his move up to lightweight, Joe Rogan suggests that Alexander Volkanovsky fight for the vacant belt against Diego lopes.
“Really Volkanovski against Diego lopes for the featherweight title, Ilia moves up to 70 kg.”, concluded the commentator.
