The UFC has witnessed, in recent days, a 'word feud' between two of its biggest stars: Alex Poatán e Khamzat Shimaev. It all started when the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) expressed outrage at ESPN. The reason? The broadcaster posted a video from 2023, in which the Brazilian called Chimaev a “dog’s ass”.
The provocative material circulated again on the internet and quickly rekindled the flames of rivalry. Poatan, furious, did not hesitate to respond.

“It is very cruel of ESPN to rescue an old video to create anger in the sports community and just to gain views, it is regrettable,” wrote the fighter on his social networks, in addition to sharing the excerpt also in his 'Stories' on Instagram.
What seemed like a simple old provocation, however, gained new layers when Khamzat Shimaev, who had been maintaining a strategic silence in the middleweight division, decided to stir up trouble. The Chechen went to “X” (formerly Twitter) and shared images of Poatan after his defeat to Israel adesanya No. UFC 287. Using sarcastic language, he changed Poatan's famous catchphrase, 'Chama!', to 'Sama'.
Poatan is ready to return to the octagon in UFC 313, scheduled for March 8 in Las Vegas, and faces Magomed Ankalayev in the main fight of the night. Chimaev should be the next challenger for the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg) and has a clear path to face Dricus du Plessis.
