It's been three years since Dustin poirier derrotou Conor McGregor for the second time, but the resentment still remains alive in the “Diamond”. A declared enemy of the Irishman, the former interim lightweight champion (up to 70kg) stated, in an interview with talkSPORT, that his opinions have not changed in relation to the 'Notorious' and revealed what would happen if they crossed paths.
“No, of course not. We would fight to the death if I saw him… I don’t respect him as a man,” Poirier said.

Dustin poirier expressed skepticism about the return of Conor McGregor to the UFC, highlighting that, despite the Irishman's mental strength, the time away from the sport and the constant cancellation of his fights make him lose hope of seeing him compete again.
“He has a strong mind, but the more time passes and these fights keep falling apart after they’re announced, I’m losing hope. And he had a great matchup. I think Michael chandler was an incredible opponent for his comeback.”, concluded the diamond.
Poirier vs McGregor Rivalry

In the second meeting, in 2020, “The Diamond” returned the knockout in the second round, after undermining his rival's legs with kicks to the calf.
In the 2021 tiebreaker fight, Poirier had his arm raised again after McGregor injured his shin and was forced to withdraw from the fight. Since then, the Irishman has never fought professionally again.
