Released last Wednesday (14), Sportico's list of the highest-paid athletes in the world in 2024 included athletes from eight different sports, with emphasis on six boxing stars, including the youtuber Jake Paul. However, for the second year in a row, no MMA athletes appeared in the top 100.
The list takes into account earnings from salaries and estimated earnings from sponsorships and advertising. Once again, the highest-paid athlete in the world last year was Cristiano Ronaldo, with $260 million (approximately 1,5 billion), with the majority coming from the impressive $215 million (approximately R$1,2 billion) annual salary paid by Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club for which the 40-year-old Portuguese player plays.

Another highlight on the list was Jake Paul. The YouTuber turned boxer, whose highlight was his victory over Mike Tyson, appeared in 52nd position on the list, with earnings of US$ 48 million (approximately R$ 276 million), including US$ 38 million (approximately R$ 218,9 million) in purses and US$ 10 million (approximately R$ 57,6 million) in sponsorships.
Besides Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Jake Paul, represent boxing in the top 100: Canelo Alvarez placeholder image, in 20th, Anthony Joshua, in 30th, and Naoya Inouse, in 81st.
On the other hand, MMA remains without representatives in the ranking. A regular on previous lists, Conor McGregor, who has not played since 2021, was left out of the list for the second time in a row.
