Two months before the clash that could define the course of his career, Gilbert Burns carries on his shoulders not only the pressure of breaking a losing streak, but also the 90,7 kg that he will need to turn into 77 kg before entering the octagon. The weight of experience, however, does not seem to intimidate the veteran, who maintains his confidence intact when facing the young phenomenon Michael Morales.
In an interview with the podcast 'Show Me the Money', hosted by colleague Renato Moicano, the Brazilian revealed that he currently weighs 90,7 kg (200 pounds), but assured that the process of reducing to the welterweight category (77 kg) is under control.

“I’m at 200 pounds right now. But I feel good. I have time (to cut weight). It’s (up to 90,7kg), but I’m ready to cut,” Durinho said during his podcast ‘Show Me the Money’, with Renato Moicano.
The statement comes at a critical time for the former title challenger, who has accumulated three consecutive losses — to Sean brady, Jack Della Maddalena e Belal Muhammad |. The duel against Morales, scheduled for the UFC 314 on April 12, represents a chance for redemption in the division's ranking, where Durinho occupies 8th position; the Ecuadorian, undefeated in 17 fights, is in 11th.
With 22 wins and eight losses, Gilbert Durinho collects triumphs over names like Jorge masvidal, Neil Magny, Tyron woodley, Demian Maia e Stephen Thompson. Three-time jiu-jitsu world champion, he is recognized for his versatility, with nine submissions and six knockouts under his belt.
