Keeping an eye on recent statements by Ilia Topuria about the desire to venture into the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) in his next appearance, Paddy Pimblett wasted no time in heating up his rivalry with the champion. Annoyed by comparisons made to the Spanish-Georgian, the undefeated UFC star guaranteed that he was much bigger than his rival and opened the door for a duel.
“Ilia is a dwarf. People don’t understand how much bigger I am than Ilia. If he wants to come to lightweight, I’m here waiting,” Pimblett said in an interview with Harakiri.

Longtime rivals Topuria and Pimblett began to be projected in close periods in the UFC. Despite the fact, the Spanish-Georgian was the one who achieved the greatest prominence and became the featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) of the organization. Currently, the Englishman plans to beat two more opponents before getting a chance at the belt.

In an attempt to change weight classes, Topuria has been constantly asking the UFC for permission to leave his current reign. So far, the UFC officials have not commented on what they think of the champion's desire. Undefeated in his career, Ilia says he is ready to face Islam makhachev and has the Russian's positive approval for a possible confrontation in the octagon.
