“I would have been so upset, man, if they had married me and Dominick Cruz and then this guy is pulling out of the fight. We had our feud and I put my knee in his face and I wish I would have retired him, but apparently I didn't," he said.

In addition, the fighter also recalled the long hiatuses Dominick faced throughout his career as a professional athlete. For Cejudo, Cruz did not know how to prepare himself in a way that protected his physical integrity, and this would be the reason behind so many problems.

"Dominick Cruz, I don't think he really understood how to train. I don't really understand that he really knew how to take care of his body, because he was injured for most of his career. I'm talking years and years, he probably spent more time out of action than he had years of actually fighting," he said.

Despite the criticism, Triple C made a point of recognizing the legacy of the former champion, the last WEC bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) and the first in UFC history.

“I thought we had buried the rivalry when I put that knee in his head. But having said that, I will say something good about him. He’s done a lot for the bantamweight division and especially the lower weight classes. I have to give him credit for that… he’s beaten some of the biggest names. You have to put Dominick Cruz up there. Many people will say he is the greatest bantamweight champion of all time,” he concluded.
