Considered by many to be the greatest fighter in UFC history and approaching the final stretch of his career, Jon Jones should have as its 'last act' a unification duel for the linear and interim heavyweight belts (up to 120,2) against Tom aspinall, in the negotiation stage with the organization. In the opinion of a former Ultimate fighter, accepting such a confrontation would be a mistake for 'Bones'.

Former UFC lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) and currently competing in the PFL, the Congolese-British Marc Diakiese explained why he advises Jones to avoid a clash with Aspinall at this stage in his career.

“For me, with everything that Jon Jones conquered and did, I think he should just leave. Tom aspinall is young and hungry. Jon Jones He's done it all. He doesn't have to face guys who are young and hungry at this level. He's done it all, he's faced all the best guys you can possibly imagine. Rampage jackson, Lyoto Machida, all these guys. He doesn’t have to prove anything and then just retire. He has the heavyweight belt…let it go!” Diakiese recommended.

If Diakiese believes the fight should not happen, Tom aspinall continues campaigning to face 'Bones', with the support of UFC president Dana White, who has already stated that he will spare no effort to get the fight off the ground in 2025.
