Last Saturday (15), in the main fight of ufc vegas 102, Jared Cannonier overcame two great obstacles. The first was the robust opponent Gregory Robocop. The second was the distrust of the majority of the MMA community.
Cannonier entered as an underdog in the bookmakers against Robocop. Which seemed to make sense, since the American had lost two fights in a row while the Brazilian was on a winning streak. However, Gregory had not fought against high-level competition. Meanwhile, Cannonier's two losses were against two guys who will probably fight for the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg.) in the future: Nassourdine Imavov e Caio Borralho.

However, 'The Killa Gorilla' showed that he was ready to change his fortunes in the first round. Robocop took him down twice, but was unable to finish Cannonier and this became a major problem. Starting the second round, it was clear that the robust Brazilian had already emptied his tank. The American then took control of the fight, almost finishing Robocop at the end of the third round and it took just 21 seconds. to knock out the opponent in the fourth round.
Jared Cannonier showed that he is still a force in the middleweight division. He maintained his top 10 ranking and perhaps this victory could even improve his position, currently in 7th. But now there are only solid names left for him to aim for higher heights.
Next Saturday (22), at UFC Seattle, we will have a rematch between anthony hernandez e Brendan allen. Maybe everything is lining up perfectly for the winner of this matchup to face Jared Cannonier next. So the winner of this fight can aim for the top five and the title fight.
With victory, Jared Cannonier now has a record of 18 wins and eight losses. The Brazilian Gregory Robocop now has 16 wins and six losses in his career.
