Last Saturday (15), Marvin vettori e Roman Dolidze faced each other in a rematch in ufc vegas 104, which took place at the Apex in Las Vegas (USA). After being away for a long period to recover from a shoulder injury, the Italian returned to action to try to repeat the feat of the first confrontation in 2023, when he beat the Georgian by unanimous decision in UFC 286. However, this time it was Dolidze who returned the favor, handing Vettori a points defeat.
In addition to getting revenge, Dolidze handed the Italian his second consecutive defeat. The former middleweight title challenger has won just two of his last six UFC fights. That's a drastic drop for a man who once fought for the belt against Israel adesanya.

After his new defeat, Vettori took to social media to ask for a trilogy fight against Dolidze.
'What the hell can I say? I think we're going to need a trilogy. The most pointless trilogy. I agree with you bastards, lol, but at this point it has to happen.', he wrote on his 'X' account. (see below)

Surprisingly, Dolidze is open to a third fight against the Italian, saying he would happily sign on the dotted line because Vettori gave him the rematch. While commendable, it simply doesn’t make sense because, well, no one but Vettori wants it. At least that’s what a poll by the US portal shows. 'MMA Mania'. (see below)
Next step
After victory, Roman Dolidze – who was 12th in the ranking and should rise in the update this Tuesday (18) – is looking to fight someone ahead of him in the ranking, such as Jared Cannonier, for example. As for Vettori — who will likely fall out of the Top 10 — he may be looking at a fight against Brendan allen, who has lost two straight duels. Indeed, Allen has fallen on hard times lately, losing two consecutive fights to Nassourdine Imavov e anthony hernandez.
The bottom line is that both Vettori and Dolidze desperately need a win. And at this point, they are in no position to ask for (or demand) certain fights, especially meaningless trilogy fights.
