Protagonist of feud and provocations against Diego lopes, aljamain sterling finally opened up and revealed the reason for not supporting the Brazilian's career in the organization. Aware that the athlete was chosen as the next challenger for the vacant featherweight title (up to 65,7 kg), Funk Master, as he is known, was disappointed with the decision of the leaders.
“I was surprised because I thought the guy (Mosvar Evloev) who won (Diego lopes No. UFC 288) should have gotten the next chance, especially since he fought twice that year. (Evloev) fought twice in 2024, beat a former champion, close fight, but still beat a former champion. Diego put on a great fight against Brian ortega, but I don't know. I'm not the one who makes the rules,” Sterling said in an interview with MMA Fighting.

As he continued speaking, Sterling showed that he understood Diego's position and did not hide his hunch about the clash between the Brazilian and Alexander Volkanovsky No. UFC 314.
“Obviously he has a more fan-friendly style, so I think that was probably it, and obviously he stepped up on short notice, so I respect Diego in that regard.
