Despite being known for his finishing skills, as he is also the jiu-jitsu coach of Alexa grasso, Diego's numbers show how complete the Manaus native is and how he is capable of finishing fights in any situation. With 26 professional triumphs, he has 12 victories via grappling and ten by knockout.

In Ultimate, Diego lopes was defeated only by the Russian Movsar Evloev, still in his first fight in the organization, in May 2023. Since then, he has won five fights and only one of them by decision.
