Looking to return to winning ways and in a delicate phase in the UFC, Colby covington decided to appeal to decide his next commitment in the octagon. Despite being ranked in the welterweight division (up to 77,1 kg), the fighter chose to challenge Nate and Nick Diaz, fighters who have been inactive in the organization for more than a year.
“The Diaz brothers are big names and legends in the game. They turn heads, sell pay-per-views and get people excited about the fights. I want to fight legends. I’ve been a champion, I’ve fought the best in the world. I want to chase big fights now,” Colby said in an interview with Submission Radio.

Planned to return to the octagon in December 2024, Nick lost the opportunity after being filmed near the grass playing with fire. The situation scared many fans and raised questions about the athlete's mental state, who has not put on MMA gloves since a tough defeat to Robbie Lawler four years ago.

Moreover, Nate diaz remains more active, but his last commitments were in boxing, where he won Jorge masvidal in July. His last appearance in the UFC was in 2022, when he submitted Tony Ferguson and decided to step away from MMA. Since then, the fighter has been flirting with a possible return, but says that the current scenario in the division is discouraging.
