The night of Diego lopes No. UFC 314, an event held last Saturday (12), ended without the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg), but left marks beyond the results of the cards. The man from Manaus faced Alexander Volkanovsky for the vacant title and had some good moments, but was defeated by the judges. Even so, the dispute raised the fans who occupied the streets of the Mutirão neighborhood, and the east side of the capital of Amazonas.

In the town where he grew up, Diego became a source of collective pride. A large screen set up on a public street showed the fight live, bringing together hundreds of people who watched each blow with fireworks and chants of encouragement.
The scene, recorded in videos published on the internet, showed the commotion during the athlete's entrance into the octagon and the reaction to the knockout attempt at the end of the second round, when the Brazilian knocked Volkanovski down with a right cross.
Diego Lopes received a UFC bonus, but apologized
In addition to the public recognition, the Brazilian pocketed US$50 for the prize shared with Volkanovski — recognized as 'Fight of the Night' in UFC 314. He, however, apologized for, in his words, having 'disappointed' the Mutirão neighborhood.
