Recovered from an eye injury, Edson Barboza plans to return to the octagon in style. Determined to live up to his great reputation as a top-level fighter, the Brazilian did not hesitate to show interest in facing Steve Garcia, an American who has been on a five-fight winning streak, all by knockout between the first and second rounds.

“I want to fight. I don’t care who the UFC always sends to me. Like I said, I want the fight. I never pick opponents. I’m ready to fight. No matter what the UFC tells me, I’m ready. Steve (Garcia) is a great fighter. He’s on a five-fight winning streak. He’s very good,” Edson told MMA Junkie.

In addition to showing interest in facing Garcia, the Friburgo native highlighted the quality that could be presented to fans who watch the eventual confrontation.

“It’s going to be a fun fight. Everyone knows that every time I step into the Octagon, it’s going to be a big war. Every time I step into the Octagon, I’m ready for war. I think a fight with Garcia, or if the UFC sends someone else, I’ll be ready,” he concluded.

At 39 years old, Edson seeks to return to winning ways after a defeat to Lerone murphy. No longer in the top 15 featherweights (up to 65,7 kg), the fighter emphasizes that his desire will always be to become champion, regardless of age or stage of his career.
