In the main fight of UFC Kansas, there was a lot of tension involved. The protagonists of the night, Carlos Prates e Ian Gary, did not hold back on provocations in the pre-fight and gave everything they had inside the octagon. They fought a five-round fight of the highest level, but in the end, only one could have his arm raised. The Irishman's victory was decreed by the judges' decision.

With the triumph, Ian Gary recovers from the defeat in his last fight, defends his seventh place in the ranking and now reaches the mark of nine victories in the UFC. Already Carlos Prates lost his unbeaten record in the organization, breaking a streak of 11 consecutive victories.
Ian Garry uses movement and volume of blows to defeat Carlos Prates
At the beginning of the duel, the athletes started trying to find distance. Prates bet on low kicks, while Garry aimed for the head and body. In the final stretch of the first round, after much study, the Brazilian slipped after a kick, and the Irishman ended up on top, tapping.
In the second stage, Carlos started to move forward, but Ian, in turn, didn't stop moving around the octagon, landing the best blows and controlling the action.

In the third round, both men went back to using high kicks until, halfway through, the Irishman landed an uppercut that shook the Brazilian. With Carlos stunned, Ian Gary managed to apply his first takedown in the fight and impose his dominance.
In the next round, Carlos continued his hunt, but could not find Ian Gary, who used movement and returned the Brazilian's blows until a well-aimed cross shook the Irishman.
In the final round, the strategies were clear. Garry needed to keep moving, while the Brazilian needed to find a knockout. Carlos Prates hunted the Irishman from the first second, and after an attempted takedown by Ian, he managed to reverse the position, narrowly avoiding a knockout in the final seconds. However, there was no more time.
The Irishman's victory was declared by unanimous decision after five rounds.
