Dana White gave an important update on a fight that many UFC fans are dying to see. After the five-round battle between Ian Machado Garry e Carlos Prates this Saturday (26) at UFC Kansas City, which ended with the Irish victory by unanimous decision of the judges, the organization's boss gave details about a title fight that should take place this year.

Among the fights that fans are eagerly awaiting to watch in 2025 are Jon Jones x Tom aspinall, Islam makhachev x Ilia Topuria and another that caused a stir last week, between Dricus du Plessis e Khamzat Shimaev. Rumors said that the two middleweights (up to 83,9 kg) would face off for the belt at UFC 317, as the main attraction of 'International Fight Week', on June 28th. Later, new rumors pointed to for an injury of the champion who would prevent him from facing the Chechen fighter.

At the post-conferenceUFC Kansas City, Dana spoke about the matchup, but ruled it out of UFC 317.

“We all know this fight is going to happen. The du Plessis-Khamzat fight is happening. It’s just not happening at International Fight Week. The fight is over,” the UFC president said. (see below)

The suspicion is that Du Plessis and Chimaev will face each other at UFC 319 in August, as the trilogy between Dustin poirier e Max Holloway for the 'BMF' belt is scheduled to headline UFC 318.

Well, as for UFC 317, rumors suggest that it will be led by the lightweight belt dispute (up to 70,3 kg) between Makhachev and Topuria, since the Georgian-Spanish fighter recently started his training camp.
