The soap opera of the title unification clash between the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg), Jon Jones, with the interim champion, Tom aspinall, gained uncertain chapters in the last week. After the UFC legend Chael Sonnen give the fight between the two as certain, he backtracked and stated that as a matter of fact the British will face the former interim champion of the category, Cyryl Gane.

The news created a climate of uncertainty in the MMA community about one of the most anticipated fights of the year. During the post-fight interview,UFC Kansas City, which took place this Saturday (26), the president of the organization, Dana White, was asked about the news involving the names of the two heavyweight champions and gave a somewhat 'inflammatory' response.
“Everything you hear is bullshit until we say it… I’ve said it many times, this is the fight we want to make this year… I’m still super confident [that the fight will happen],” Dana said. (see below)

The Jones-Aspinall soap opera will complete five months of uncertainty. 'Bones' last fight was in UFC 309, in November of last year, when he brutalized Stipe Miocic with a spinning kick in New York. Since then, the organization's GOAT has been under intense persecution from Tom aspinall, who wants a title unification fight.
Dana White has assured that the fight will take place in 2025, but Jones has been accused of dodging the fight due to an extensive list of demands to step into the octagon against Aspinall.
