After almost four years in the PFL, Jeremy Stephens is back in the UFC. The return to the octagon is more than special for the 38-year-old veteran, as he fights in his homeland this Saturday (3) against Mason jones, at UFC Des Moines. This is the first time that Dana White's organization has docked in the capital of Iowa (USA).

Jeremy Stephens revealed an unusual fact about his return to the UFC. During the press conference at 'Media Day', the lightweight athlete (up to 70,3 kg) said that his return to the Ultimate was thanks to his wife's insistence on getting in touch with Dana.

“My wife said, ‘Hey, you should check out Dana,’ and I said, ‘No, I’m a little older, and they want these younger guys.’ I was kind of nervous — everybody thinks that. I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know if I’m worthy,’ but my wife, God bless her, was really interested,” Stephens said.

Stephens then asked his wife to help him write a message to Dana White. In January of this year, the Des Moines fighter ventured into bare-knuckle boxing, where he defeated Eddie Alvarez by TKO at BKFC. He says the UFC president contacted him soon after.

“The day I left, Sunday morning, I woke up around 4:30 in the morning and got a text around XNUMX or XNUMX in the morning — you know how Dana is, he’s up and he’s maybe betting five grand on black — and he said, ‘Hey, I’ve been trying to get a hold of you. Great fight (against Eddie Alvarez). I’ll have Hunter (Campbell) get in touch with you.’ I told my wife and gave her a big hug. I almost cried because I know I got this from my job, but if it wasn’t for my wife, I know I wouldn’t be here today,” he said emotionally.

With renewed energy and the support of Des Moines residents, Stephens says he is prepared for a war against his Welsh adversary.

“I’m going to put him in the f***ing morgue, give this pain a purpose. I have goals and delusions. This is just a little stop to the ultimate goal and dream,” he concluded.

Jeremy Stephens has a record of 29 wins and 21 losses in his career.
