After weight-cutting issues, Jose Aldo's UFC 315 fight undergoes major change

At a certain point in the ceremony, the Brazilian met with Aiemann Zahabi, his opponent, and with Sean Shelby, the organization's matchmaker in a conversation that culminated in the change of category of the duel, which was originally going to be disputed at bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg), but was transferred to featherweight (up to 65,7 kg).

According to the broadcast on the UFC's official YouTube channel, both athletes were over their agreed weight, which became clear when they both got on the scale. With a very dejected appearance, José Aldo weighed 64,8 kg, approximately 7,7 kg above the previously agreed limit. Zahabi, who weighed himself in shorts and with a calmer expression, weighed 64,4 kg.

According to additional information from Canadian journalist Ariel Helwani, the Ultimate made the decision to change categories and warned Zahabi to stop cutting weight when they realized that the Brazilian would not be able to fulfill the agreement.
