In an interview with Adam Zubayraev on YouTube, Chimaev reacted to the challenges of Caio Borralho, pointing out that the Brazilian did not challenge him because he believes in his potential, but because he wants visibility and a big financial reward. According to Chimaev, fighting him guarantees much more money than facing other opponents, so for Caio, it would be more advantageous to lose a fight against him and earn a good profit than to win several less lucrative fights.
“He wants publicity and money. A fight with me is worth $1 million guaranteed. If he fights another fighter, he will earn $200. So it is better for him to be defeated in one fight than to have five different fights,” he said. Khamzat Shimaev.
Undefeated with 14 career wins, Khamzat Shimaev disputes the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg) against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319, scheduled for August 16. Already Caio Borralho, who has not fought since August 2024, does not yet have a fight scheduled.
