As far as it depends on Jon Jones, the UFC heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) could remain locked for quite some time. In season in Thailand, the linear champion of the category shows no sign of rushing to return to the octagon and defend his title in a unification duel against the interim champion Tom aspinall.
Such disinterest in resolving the situation demonstrated by Jon Jones, many fans question whether this fight will ever happen. A recent response from the champion to a follower on social media may have further discouraged those who dream of this fight.

Asked by a follower about what it's like to be retired, Jones responded by avoiding the term, but ensuring that he is enjoying life during yet another of his many career breaks.
“I don’t know if I want to call it retirement. I feel like I always have the ability to come out of nowhere and show them. I’ve had a lot of breaks throughout my career and my identity outside of fighting is very much intact. I’m genuinely enjoying life and growing in different ways,” the champion responded in an interaction with a follower on ‘X’.
Jones won the heavyweight belt in March 2023 when he returned from a hiatus of more than three years to finish Cyryl Gane and become champion. 'Bones' defended the title on only one occasion, against the former champion Stipe Miocic, in November last year.
