It is not news that the name of Khamzat Shimaev is synonymous with noise wherever he goes. The Chechen, undefeated in his career, stands out for dethroning his opponents inside the octagon and for fueling rivalries outside of it. The 'Wolf' accumulates open enmity with a good part of the welterweights (up to 77,1 kg), middleweights (up to 83,9 kg) and, now, he seems to be migrating his wave of 'hate' to the light heavyweights (up to 93 kg) of the UFC.

The hot topic is the 'samurai' Jiri Prochazka. In an interview with the channel 'Full Violence', the former light heavyweight champion revealed that Chimaev tried to take advantage of his position in the sport to gain visibility and attract the spotlight. Although he recognizes that Khamzat is an excellent fighter, Jiri made it clear that, as a person, he does not like him.

“He (Chimaev) tried to use my… how can I say… my position to his advantage. To try to draw some attention to himself. I don’t want to say he’s not a good fighter. He’s a great fighter, man. But as a person, from what I’ve known, I don’t like him. That’s it,” Prochazka said.

Despite expressing his feelings about the 'Wolf', Prochazka claims that he does not usually speak badly of anyone and that he does not have personal problems with other athletes. However, he criticized Chimaev's behavior, who, according to him, likes to provoke and attack others for no reason, just to promote himself and gain space at the top.

“I don’t like to talk bad about people. I don’t have a problem with anyone. And he’s the type of guy who tries to attack others for no reason, just to get to the top,” continued the Czech.

The former champion emphasizes that this type of attitude is not in keeping with the spirit of the sport, which, in his view, should be focused on the fight, and not on provocations or personal attacks. For this reason, he disapproves of this behavior and stays away from this type of mentality.

“This is a fighting sport, not about talking about other people or attacking someone personally. And he’s that kind of guy, that kind of person who… I don’t like that way of thinking. That’s all.”, he concluded. Jiri Prochazka.

Prochazka and Chimaev are on the rise in the UFC

After losing his undefeated UFC record to Alex Poatán, Jiri Prochazka returned to the octagon and bounced back with a victory over Aleksandar rakic. However, in a rematch against the Brazilian, he suffered a new defeat and momentarily stepped away from the fight for the light heavyweight belt. He then faced Jamahal hill and, with a convincing victory, his name was once again inserted into the race for the title. Meanwhile, Khamzat Shimaev, undefeated with 14 career wins, is preparing to fight for the middleweight belt against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319, scheduled for August 16.
