Khalil rountree transformed tension into dominance in the UFC Baku, this Saturday (21), by winning Jamahal hill with a strategic and relentless performance. With an evident climate of rivalry in the fight of 'victims of Alex Poatán', the fighter exploited the former champion's operated knee and undermined his opponent's mobility with low kicks and precise stomps. Throughout the five rounds, he applied knockdowns, opened cuts and imposed total control to secure the victory by unanimous decision.

Seventh in the ranking, Khalil should gain positions in the light heavyweight division and asked to face an opponent who would allow him to get even closer to the title, which belongs to Magomed Ankalayev. In his career, there are 14 wins and six losses.

“I made some mistakes against Alex Poatán I couldn't do it again. I want to be a champion. Regardless of who's next, I want to fight someone who will get me close to the belt," Khalil said.

Hill is currently going through a difficult time in the organization. The American has lost his third consecutive loss, also being beaten by Alex Poatán e Jiri Prochazka. The former champion has 12 positive results and four negative ones, and is expected to lose fourth place in the ranking to his rival.

The rivalry began even before they exchanged blows in the octagon. When declaring the rules, referee Herb Dean recommended that the two fighters touch gloves. However, they ignored the recommendation. At the beginning of the fight, Khalil kept his guard down and walked around the octagon. Jamahal, in turn, did not react or take advantage of the opportunity. In the exchange of blows, Rountree was faster and more intense in his actions. Hill felt his leg and changed stance.

Jamahal hill has an operation on his right knee, and it was precisely the path by which Khalil rountree took advantage. Poatan's opponent in the UFC 300 suffered with Jr.'s kicks, tried to change bases, but no longer had the mobility he had at the beginning. Khalil also used the famous 'stomps' in the area to intensify the strategy. His calf was already swollen.

Khalil was fine… And he got even better! Strategically, the American spun around the octagon to confuse, applied leg kicks and managed two knockdowns on Jamahal, who was already having difficulty moving and felt his eye on both occasions.

In the fourth round, Rountree showed, once again, his superiority. With strong kicks to the waist, the fighter confused Hill and landed punches that also hurt his rival, including a 'bump' and another cut on the eyebrow.

In the last round, the synthesis continued. More tired, Jamahal was unable to be effective. Khalil played by the rules and only entered with punctual blows to prevent his opponent from enjoying the fight and confirm the victory on points.
