Alex Poatan 's preparation for the highly anticipated rematch against Magomed Ankalaev , scheduled for UFC 320, suffered a brief interruption. The former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) revealed on social media that he is in Uruguay filming Onslaught, a feature film in which he plays the villain 'The Butcher'.
Produced by A24 Studios, Lyrical Media, and Ryder Picture Company, the film is directed by Adam Wingard, the director of Godzilla vs. Kong. Classified as an action thriller with horror elements, the plot follows a mother (played by Puerto Rican Adria Arjona, of True Detective and Morbius fame) who must protect her children after a threat emerges from a secret military base.
Adria Arjona, who is currently dating Hawaiian star Jason Momoa (Conan and Aquaman), shares the lead role with Poatan, whose casting as the antagonist was a personal choice by the director. According to Wingard, the role is an opportunity for the Brazilian to showcase his martial arts skills, including chokeholds and spinning kicks.

Alex Poatan will have a silent appearance in the film
In an interview on the PodPah podcast, back in 2024, Alex Poatan revealed previously unreleased details about his participation in the film Onslaught. According to the former champion, his performance will be silent, but marked by his famous catchphrase.
"I'll be shooting the film there for six weeks. I'll be acting, but I like to do something where I won't have to speak. This will be a film where I won't speak. It'll be like Terminator, where the guy only says one word at the end. I'll do the entire film without speaking, I'll be there from beginning to end, and at the end I'll say, 'Flame,'" declared Poatan.
