Chael Sonnen plays Paulo Borrachinha as the perfect rival for the former UFC champion: 'I love this fight'

The movement in the UFC middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) continues intense after the victory of Khamzat Shimaev No. UFC 319. And the one who entered the debate was the former fighter and current commentator Chael Sonnen. On his YouTube channel, the American suggested a duel between Dricus du Plessis, former category champion, and Paulo borrachinha.

For Sonnen, a match between the South African and Borrachinha would not only be viable, but the ideal option for both in the current scenario of the 83,9kg division.

"I love this fight. I love this matchup. In fact, this request came from Paulo Costa, but I feel like he nailed it. Tell me a better fight. In some ways, this is the perfect opponent for Dricus. And Dricus is also the ideal opponent for Paulo Costa. I fully support this fight," Sonnen said in a video posted on his channel.

Du Plessis lost his middleweight belt after being 'swept' by Khamzat Shimaev, while Borrachinha alleviated his situation by overcoming Roman Kopylov, both on points. For Sonnen, a clash between them would make sense from both a technical and entertainment standpoint.
