Last Saturday (13), Jean Silva suffered his first UFC defeat when he was knocked out by Diego lopes in the second round of the main fight of the Night UFCThe Brazilian, who until then was undefeated in the organization with five consecutive quick victories, used his social media to talk about the result and make a self-criticism.
"Unfortunately, yesterday, emotions got the better of me. I was doing well in the second round, but I ended up going all out, wanting to go all out. Anyway... I ended up playing alone, I wasn't connected to my team, so the responsibility for the loss is entirely mine. It was meant to be, with 13 seconds left and we're out," he said. In addition to the Manaus native's defeat, two other members of the Fighting Nerds team also recently lost their unbeaten records in the UFC: Caio Borralho and Maurício Ruffy, who were surpassed by Nassourdine Imavov e Benoit Saint-Denis, respectively. Jean made a point of commenting on this delicate moment for the team.
"You're right about one thing: we were three Fighting Nerds who lost in a row, so the three of us must be making similar mistakes. Let's have a meeting between me and Caio Borralho and (Maurício) Ruffy to identify this and improve. Like it or not, I'm sorry. We'll be back," he assured.
The rivalry between Jean Silva e Diego lopes took on special contours in the weeks leading up to the confrontation, with provocations and taunts that raised expectations for the fight.
Inside the Octagon, the fight did not disappoint. The Manaus native dominated the opening moments, but the Paraná native fought back in the second round, balancing the fight until suffering a decisive spinning elbow that ended the contest.
