On a historic night for world boxing, Terence Crawford defeated Saul 'Canelo' Álvarez by unanimous decision this Saturday (13), in Las Vegas (USA), and entered a select group of legends of the sport. With the result, the American became the first boxer of the modern era to achieve the status of undisputed champion in three different categories.
The fight, held in a packed American football stadium with more than 70 fans, also marked a symbolic turning point in the way boxing is consumed: it was the first professional fight broadcast live on Netflix.

A fan favorite and Mexico's national idol, Canelo entered the ring defending his middleweight belt (up to 72 kg), but found Crawford to be a technical, strategic, and fast opponent. Despite moving up a division, the American dictated the pace of the fight from the opening rounds and controlled the distance with precision.
Without needing a knockout, Crawford convinced all three judges and extended his perfect record to 42 wins, 31 of which were by knockout. He now simultaneously holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO belts, cementing his name among the greatest boxers in recent history.
Canelo, 35, suffered the third defeat of his successful career, which includes 63 wins and a position as one of the sport's most profitable athletes. The setback doesn't diminish his legacy, but it reinforces the impact of Crawford's historic performance.
