Light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) again, Alex Poatán excited the MMA world after a great triumph over Magomed Ankalayev at UFC 320. Considered an underdog by bookmakers, the Brazilian needed little more than a minute to dispatch his rival and regain his divisional throne. The feat not only earned him bonuses and the spotlight, but also a significant jump in the organization's rankings.
Until his victory over the Russian, Poatan was ranked 10th in the organization's pound-for-pound rankings. He was behind names like Alexander Volkanovsky e Tom aspinall, who are currently champions in their respective categories. However, in an update carried out this Tuesday (07), journalists responsible for organizing classifications in the Ultimate, ended up electing the Brazilian as the newest sixth in the world.

By moving up four positions, Poatan now finds itself behind names like Alexandre pantoja (5º), Khamzat Shimaev (4º), Merab Dvalishvili (3º), Islam makhachev (2th) and Ilia Topuria, who is currently ranked first in the organization's most competitive ranking. The only athlete who has not defended his title to date is the Chechen, who became king of the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg) after defeating Dricus du Plessis in his last appearance in the octagon.
