Considered one of the biggest names in the strawweight division (up to 52,1kg), Joanna Jędrzejczyk is on Brazilian soil for the first time. Training partner and compatriot of Mateusz Gamrot , the veteran is in Rio de Janeiro to watch the athlete's duel against Charles do Bronx , in the main fight of the event that takes place this Saturday (11).

Called up at the last minute to replace Rafael Fiziev , Gamrot will have the opportunity to face the fourth-ranked fighter in the division. “It’s a great night for Polish MMA. It’s a great night for Mateusz Gamrot and a great opportunity. He’s always been super close, very high in the rankings, but he’s never been lucky enough to really get close to his dream, which is to be fighting for the belt and becoming UFC champion,” declared Joanna.

Despite celebrating, the former champion acknowledged the risks Gamrot is taking by accepting a fight against Do Bronx.

“Such a great opportunity, Mateusz Gamrot will face one of the greatest: Charles Oliveira. We all love him, so Charles, thank you for everything you've done for the sport. Mateusz is a close friend, so I truly believe Mateusz will have a great performance. We know how good Charles is and there's no doubt there's a lot of risk in this fight for Mateusz, but I truly believe it's his time. But I'm a big fan of Charles, he's the greatest and we're going to face the greatest, so anything can happen,” he concluded.

Currently ranked eighth, Gamrot is considered the favorite for the duel against Do Bronx and guarantees that he will not hesitate to seek a duel on the ground, to test himself against, in his opinion, the best jiu-jitsu in the division. The confrontation takes place this Saturday (11).
