Hailed as one of the biggest prospects in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg) when signed by the UFC, André Sergipano ended up failing to live up to the expectations of the management and was fired on Wednesday (15) after suffering a negative streak. Known for his great talent in jiu-jitsu, the fighter last appeared at UFC 320, where he was knocked out by Edmen Shahbazyan in the first round.
Signed after two wins in the Contender Series, Sergipano arrived in the organization on a roll and racked up six consecutive victories, four of them by submission. One of his greatest achievements, in the view of many fans, was his great victory over Ronaldo Jacaré , when he broke his compatriot's arm by applying an armbar and triumphing at UFC 262.

The losing streak began in 2023 when he was defeated by Brendan Allen . Since then, the Brazilian has competed four more times and only managed to overcome one opponent, in December 2023, when he faced Jun Yong Park . To date, Sergipano has not publicly commented on his dismissal.

Other athletes who ended up having their contracts terminated were Justin Tafa , who announced his retirement amidst two consecutive losses and canceled fights; Irina Alekseeva , who was submitted by Bia Mesquita at UFC Rio and suffered her third defeat in four appearances in the octagon; and Brogan Walker , also a victim of a losing streak.
Johnny Walker opens up about his heavyweight debut at UFC 332.
