Khabib Nurmagomedov has a clear opinion on what the biggest fight the UFC has to offer right now would be. While many fans and experts point to the Jon Jones vs. Alex Poatan fight as the company's main event, the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) has other names in mind.
In an interview with the 'Weighing In' channel, Khabib stated that the potential confrontation between Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria represents the greatest spectacle the UFC can currently offer. In the former champion's view, the duel between the two rising champions surpasses even the expectations surrounding a possible superfight between Jon Jones and Alex Poatan , which, although important, wouldn't have the same weight or relevance at the moment.

"I think Islam vs. Topuria is the biggest fight right now, not Jones vs. Poatan. It's still an important fight, but not at that level," said Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Despite the Russian's opinion, a Makhachev vs. Topuria fight wouldn't be simple. This is because the Dagestani fighter recently relinquished his lightweight title to attempt a double championship in the welterweight division (up to 77kg). Jon Jones and Alex Poatan face a similar dilemma, as the American is retired as a heavyweight, while the Brazilian is the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg).
