Apparently, Alex Poatan will have to make a change to his plans. Last Monday (15), the light heavyweight champion (up to 93 kg) surprised everyone by raising doubts about his presence at the highly anticipated and historic UFC Casa Branca , an event scheduled to take place on June 14 in Washington (USA).
The Brazilian has consistently expressed his desire to be part of the event, competing in a super fight against Jon Jones in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg). However, at the moment, Poatan himself, through his official Instagram account, has stated that he is unlikely to be seen in the octagon on that date. Therefore, fans and MMA professionals speculate that the UFC star may return to competition sooner than expected.

Poatan's next step
Currently, Alex Poatan is eyeing a super fight against Jon Jones in the UFC heavyweight division. However, if he remains in the light heavyweight division, the Brazilian is likely to face either Carlos Ulberg or Jiri Prochazka . The New Zealander is ranked third and has a nine-fight winning streak. The Czech is a former champion in the division and is currently ranked first. The problem for 'Denisa' is that he has lost twice to the renowned striker via knockout.
Another possibility is that Poatan, seeking his third belt in a different UFC weight class, will venture into the heavyweight division against Ciryl Gane for the interim title. Currently, Tom Aspinall , the heavyweight champion, is still suffering from an eye injury after receiving an illegal eye poke from the Frenchman and has not been cleared to return to training, much less given a date for his next fight.
