Charles of the Bronx emerged victorious from the main fight of UFC 326 and also gained an important ally. At the event held last Saturday (7), in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian dominated Max Holloway He won the 'BMF' (Baddest Motherfucker) belt, but his performance didn't please certain fans and MMA professionals. However, Dana White sided with the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg).
At the post-UFC 326The company president was impressed with Charles' performance, who pressured the favorite and didn't let him fight. It's true that, like many, Dana admitted he expected the rematch between the MMA legends to be a war, but he stressed that he saw no problem whatsoever with the strategy adopted by the Brazilian.

Throughout the fight, the athlete's control over 'Blessed' on the ground was so great that he received boos and was even called a slacker and annoying. But, according to the UFC president, Charles deserves more praise than criticism. In fact, Dana implied that Holloway, not the Brazilian, was the one who underperformed in the fight.
"I don't know if anyone expected this, the way he immobilized him and took him down so easily, completely dominating him on the ground. I thought there would be a lot more striking and that Holloway would do better defending takedowns and, if it went to the ground, at least he would get back up a few times during the round, but it was total domination," said the official.
“I think you’re going to have guys like that, but the goal at the end of the day and every fight is to win. So, he did exactly what he needed to do to win. I think you’ll have to ask Holloway, but in training, he was probably expecting it if he saw Charles fight. He’s not afraid to exchange blows, to be attacked, but obviously, he believed that if he took him down, it would happen,” he concluded.
Charles' current situation
The victory had a special flavor for Charles of the Bronx, 36 years old. The new UFC BMF champion avenged his defeat to Max Holloway in 2015, in a fight that took place in the featherweight division (up to 65,8 kg).
More than that, the Brazilian, with two consecutive victories, defended his third position in the lightweight rankings and returned to the pound-for-pound rankings, in 12th place. Thus, the São Paulo native dreams of another title fight in the category.
