Jiu-jitsu legend Marcus Buchecha aims to establish himself in MMA and enters the octagon this Saturday (25). At UFC Vegas 116, the Brazilian makes his third appearance in the octagon against the dangerous Ryan Spann and, in a bad phase in his career, needs to show his worth. As if the dramatic scenario wasn't enough, the athlete, who is looking for his first victory in the company, made a statement that many considered worrying.

In an interview with 'UFC Brasil' , the pressured Buchecha revealed that, during his preparation, he practically didn't watch the tapes with the material of the American, nicknamed Superman, and explained that deciphering opponents is not his task. In any case, the jiu-jitsu icon, who competes in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg), guaranteed he is evolving in his training and promised to show this improvement against Spann. Furthermore, the Brazilian has already stated that his strategy will be to take down his opponent in search of a submission.

“To be quite honest, I watched very little, because I prefer not to. If I watch my opponent too much, I end up worrying about what he does and forget what I do. Of course, I know his strengths. He's a complete fighter, right? An MMA fighter, he has grappling, striking, a dangerous guillotine choke, but I prefer not to worry too much about what he's going to do and think about what I'm going to do,” said the jiu-jitsu legend.

“It’s always been like this in my career, especially in MMA. I think the role of watching a lot is for the coaches. And that’s it. I’m coming back, everything I did that worked, I have the same mindset, the same thinking,” he concluded.
