While in 2024 Paulo Borrachinha lost two fights in a row and flirted with leaving the UFC, now the tables have turned. In April, in Miami (USA), the Brazilian secured his second consecutive victory, coming in strong in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg). And the show he put on in the octagon was so impressive that it left Joe Rogan enchanted.
The official UFC commentator made a point of praising Borrachinha and believes the sky's the limit for him in the new division. Rogan's excitement is understandable, as the Brazilian defied his underdog status and surprised everyone by knocking out the feared Azamat Murzakanov in the third round, ending his undefeated streak in MMA. Therefore, the professional emphasizes that the athlete, even ranked seventh, is capable of challenging the new champion Carlos Ulberg and defeating other top fighters.

“He was phenomenal. If I were in his corner, I’d say, ‘Never go back to middleweight. You’re a light heavyweight champion.’ While Ulberg is out for a year, Paulo could become the interim light heavyweight champion. Without a doubt, I really think he could do it. At light heavyweight he’s terrifying. He looks like the old Borrachinha,” said the commentator on his official podcast 'The Joe Rogan Experience'.
