Norma Dumont 's tough loss to Joselyne Edwards in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 116 brought joy not only to the Panamanian, who secured her fifth consecutive victory, but also to the greatest female fighter in history. Amanda Nunes wasted no time in taunting her compatriot shortly after the UFC's official Instagram account posted images of the fight, which marked the Brazilian's first loss since 2022.

In the post, the Lioness avoided writing major provocations, opting instead to comment with a mocking smiley face emoji. Followers reacted to the comment with statements of support for the former bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg) and featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) champion. Away from the octagon since 2023, Amanda was scheduled to face Kayla Harrison earlier this year, but the American had to withdraw from the card to undergo neck surgery. There is still no official date for the rescheduling of the fight.

Norma Dumont had said that Amanda Nunes avoided confronting her.
In an exclusive interview with SUPER LUTAS last Wednesday (22), Norma stated that Ultimate matchmakers even considered creating an interim belt after the absence of the two-time Olympic champion, which would be disputed between the two Brazilians. Also according to the Minas Gerais native, Amanda would have refused to face her to prioritize the fight with Kayla Harrison.
“I have a good relationship with the UFC. They even tried for an interim title with Amanda, that possibility existed. Actually, she preferred to wait for Kayla Harrison . In backstage conversations, I heard that they first presented the offer to her, and she said no. She could have chosen to fight for the interim title now, but she preferred to wait for Kayla. I understand her goals, but obviously I was frustrated. I think if you want to fight, you have to come and fight everyone, period. But, it's okay. I recognize that it's a fight that will sell more,” she stated.
