During the press conference to promote the UFC White House, scheduled for June 14th, the Brazilian came under fire from the loudmouth and ended up being defended by Ilia Topuria Amidst great confusion. In an interview with MMA Junkie, Poatan detailed his perspective on the altercation and pointed out that Topuria decided to intervene in Hokit's provocations, possibly due to their partnership. “Tupuria saw that the guy was talking there and had already talked about him too. Because I don't understand the language, I think he took offense because of the partnership, right? So he went and threw the bottle at him. But a guy like that, to me, is clueless. He's the type of guy who doesn't get along with his family, he's a problematic guy; if he has a brother, if he has an uncle, he doesn't get along. He's a problematic guy,” said Poatan.

Despite the incident, Poatan assured that he will remain focused on his fight against Cyryl Gane He warned that if Hokit tries to provoke him again and there is no intervention from those in charge, he will consider it a serious failure on the part of the UFC.

“(If he tries again) I’ll be minding my own business. I’ll be focused on my fight. If the UFC or those in charge let him do something, because I’m minding my own business, it will be a huge betrayal by the organization. Because I’ll be minding my own business,” concluded the light heavyweight.
