With the loss, Conor McGregor suffered his seventh career defeat and now has three consecutive losses. Holloway, on the other hand, achieved his 23rd victory in professional MMA and avenged his defeat to the Irishman 13 years ago.

Early injury defines McGregor's defeat at UFC 329.

Conor McGregor started the fight attempting a high kick, but slipped. He then tried the strike again and lost his balance once more. This time, however, he twisted his knee and went down. Max Holloway took advantage of the moment and went on the offensive, striking the Irishman.

With the fight back on its feet, Holloway threw a low kick, and McGregor complained of a knee injury. The Hawaiian even signaled the strike before repeating the attack.

Resistant, Conor McGregor tried to attack once more, but his knee lacked support and he retreated. The referee, Mark Beltran, seeing that the Irishman was unable to continue the fight, stopped it and declared a technical knockout.

“Guys, give a round of applause for Conor McGregor . He wanted to continue the fight. I told him (the referee) that he had a knee injury. I’m going to talk to Dana and everyone, because this fight had a lot of hype . We’re going to have this rematch, we need another fight. Ending it like this is an anticlimax,” said Max Holloway, still in the octagon and visibly bothered by the premature end of the fight.
