Alex Poatan expressed dissatisfaction with Michel Pereira 's dismissal from the UFC. In a slump within the organization, the 'Flying Paraense' faced Shara Magomedov , officiated by Herb Dean, at UFC Baku , and ended up defeated in a fight marked by illegal strikes from his opponent. The result marked the end of his time in the UFC and generated indignation in the former middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) champion.

In a post on Instagram, Poatan shared a video with Michel Pereira 's best moments and criticized the organization's decision, stating that the dismissal could be understood in another context, but became unacceptable because it occurred after a refereeing error that, in his view, cost the Brazilian athlete dearly.

"They could have fired this guy sooner and maybe it would have been acceptable, but paying such a high price for an arbitration error is unacceptable!", wrote Poatan.

The former champion also highlighted that the UFC usually fulfills his requests as much as possible, but admitted frustration with the situation. He assessed that the situation is unfortunate and issued a warning to other fighters, pointing out that many remain silent and may face similar problems in the future.

“The UFC has done and continues to do everything I ask for, within the organization's reach. But it's sad to see this and not be upset. Many athletes who don't say anything, tomorrow it could be you going through this kind of situation, and it's no use sending me messages asking for help. It's sad that even the UFC doesn't have control, and this is tarnishing our sport,” concluded the former champion.
